Facebook Messenger updated recently with a number of changes, including adding 3D Touch support.
But it appears the social giant is also adding a new feature, that wasn’t initially mentioned in the app’s release notes: the ability to call an Uber ride (with your friends).
Per the announcement via Facebook’s Newsroom:
“Today, we’re expanding the services available to you with our launch of transportation on Messenger. With this new feature, you can request a ride from a car service without ever needing to download an extra app or leave a conversation.
It’s super easy and doesn’t take you away from the plans that you’re making with your friends or family.”
Uber is just the first chosen partner for Facebook’s new on-demand transportation service which is launching in the U.S – initially.
Other car concierge services are expected to join in on the effort, in the coming months.
Find out how to book your next ride – (below).
Call an Uber using Messenger [HOW TO]

2. From within a conversation, tap the “More” menu and choose “Transportation.”
3. Search “Uber.”
4. Tap the car icon to request a ride.
5. You’ll receive updates on your driver’s status.
Facebook will also notify your friends that you’ve called a ride – and you can request, track and pay for a ride all from within Messenger. “We’re making transportation as simple as sending a message,” the company said in its announcement.
